9 Feb, Intercity, light rain
It was hard leaving a warm country style home with animals, native timberland, cottage garden, herb garden and a practiced barista to go back to battle the elements. Wayne and Tracey have been wonderful hosts full of entertainment and fun.
I’m back heading to the track to finish my walk to Bluff. I plotted my waypoints, tracks and huts on Maps.Me.

I’ve been using NZTopo50 app as well as Guthook or now called Far Out app. Both offline and they give me my GPS position.
My navigation has been less than average and others suggested Maps.Me so I’ll give a third app a go.
Once over Burke’s Pass the rain started, not the weather I wanted to start this tramp.

I found a place to stay and left the food parcel for Siene and Clo to collect when they arrive into Tekapo. I then arranged my bike and discussed options due to Ohau Weir still being closed. All sorted I just had to make sure I had accommodation ahead so went to a cafe and arranged this.
The Church of the Good Shepherd was calling for a visit. In any weather it stands proud on the lake.

The bridge is a picture as well with the water colour and steel glistening in the rain.

Arriving back to the Backpackers with my resupply box I met 3 other TA walkers. Together we discussed options and the challenges ahead. My plan was set in stone and I was glad later to learn 2 would be planning the river crossing the same time.
Another rainy day has ended with a solid plan in place
